Spring Skincare Tips
We still can’t get our hands on your face at the moment due to MASK restrictions so its even more important that you to look after your skin at home. The change of season means you need to change up your skin care routine and how lucky are we that we have a 100% customisable skincare range, dermaviduals!
Changes in our climate, environment, weather, temperature, humidity, UV exposure and outdoor activity drives the need to change our skincare routine.
We have protected, nourished, and hibernated our skins long enough, son now it’s time to tweak our skincare routines to suit this seasonal change.
So, what do you need and how and what do you need to prep the skin for the warmer months ahead?
Here are some great tips on awakening a dull winter complexion and achieving a healthy radiant spring glow…
-
Skin health review and check-up
Book in for a skin health review and check-up with your CleanSkins skin superstar. Having a professional skin check-up post winter will ensure we get your prescription perfect for the Spring and Summer season. Skin changes just like the weather, so the right routine is essential to achieving healthy flawless skin. As the flowers bloom and the bee’s buzz, spring can lead to skin changes, such as inflammation and reddening. With an increase of allergens and pollens in the air, seasonal skin allergic reactions are common.

Smooth to improve = Exfoliation time!
As you know we are dead against over exfoliation, but healthy exfoliating after winter helps to shed that winter, flaking coat. We know people can avoid exfoliating during the winter months as it can dry out the skin. As the weather warms up, we can gently start to lift the exfoliation game to brighten dull skin that has accumulated over the winter months. For home care, use peeling cream once to twice a week (depending on your skin) to soften and smooth. When we can get our hands on your faces in-clinic again we can kick-start in clinic treatments with double cleansing and exfoliation routines to increase cell turnover, improve the texture of the skin and overall complexion.

- With your prescribed cleanser, dispense a small amount of peeling cream to your second cleanse! Remove with essential cleansing cloth.

Switch up your Moisturiser!
As your temperature and humidity increases, you may not necessarily need heavier, lipid rich moisturisers. You want to use formulations that are lighter, easy to absorb and as always protect and maintain your skins barrier.
Tips for boosting your DMS Base Cream
Your CleanSkins skin therapist will consider changing up your moisturiser with extracts and/or monosubstances like CM glucan complex, d-panthenol, aloe vera, echinacea and hamamelis. These are great supporting actives for transitional skin as our barrier function is so temperamental at this time of year.
-
Increase your actives and antioxidants
We can up the ante in your actives and antioxidants so we can ensure your skin blooms. We want to increase the vitality of skin health by feeding your cells with all the essential nutrients required to regenerate and rejuvenate. Think about feeding your skin topically with all thing’s vitamins, minerals, fatty and amino acids for over-all skin health and glow.
We know antioxidants should-be used all year-round, but we need to up the ante during the spring and summer months. Topical antioxidants are essential for your skin, as they help to prevent the clinical signs of UV damage, premature aging and decrease the breakdown of collagen and elastin. They act as an insurance policy to protect our fragile skin cells and ensure they function to their full potential.
Here are some king spring antioxidants below
Think polyphenols, bioflavonoids and rich antioxidants like….
- Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin C, Vitamin E
- Grape Seed Extract, Green Tea Extract
- Zinc, COQ10, Isoflavone
- Boswellia, Butchers Broom
Remember this is the time to boost humectants and in some cases, decrease lipids.
- EGCG Intense Renewal Serum
- Liposome NMF Complex, Laminara Digitata

Upgrade your SPF
Now that it’s getting warmer, ensure you don’t skip this essential step in your everyday routine. Sunscreen should be worn daily, no matter your location — indoors and outdoors.
It’s important to always use a new sunscreen every year.
Protection is the golden key in the spring and summer and of course don’t forget your lips!
-
Spring clean!
Spring cleaning is not just for your wardrobe!
A skincare cleanout should be done at least twice a year, consider springtime your reminder alarm to all your beauty products and accessories.
Swap out and detox your cleansing cloths, sponges, and makeup brushes.
Check expiry dates on all your products and renew your home MTS rollers, self-tanners, and tinted day cream.
Remember dirty, old products and accessories can harbour a wonderful breeding zoo of bacteria, yeasts, and mould, irritating our skin and contributing to breakouts, inflammation, and infections.
Tip: Did you know you can use Total Cleansing Cream to wash your make-up brushes?!
